only started when somebody has logged in.

freezes.
Switching to the old IDE via82cxxx driver fixes this.
May I suggest blacklisting pata_via and including via82cxxx ?

Well, my window borders did not disappear and I did no unity --reset, but my
unity is gone, too.
It happend when ccsm crashed the desktop once, and ever since.
When I change to tty1 and do "DISPLAY=:0 compiz --replace" everything is ok
again.

Ok, I solved my problem.
After login, I started a terminal with ctrl-alt-t.
Using "ps ax | grep unity" showed that unity-panel-service wasn't running, and
in "ccsm" indeed the unity plugin was disabled.
Little surprising but easily fixed! Enabled it, logged out and in again. Now it
is started b
