Acceleration now works with the current Mesa package in Feisty, however
there are severe problems with the EXA acceleration method which causes
X to use 100% of the CPU for a long time when doing simple operations
(opening firefox, for example).
Switching to XAA acceleration fixes this.

Maybe I wasn't clear above. ALL png-writing software is affected by
this bug. While I might be able to get by using JPG for screenshots
(ugly ones) I also do fractal artwork renders with PNG output. To wait
15-20 hours for a render to complete only to have it fail writing the
PNG in the last step

As requested the required log files after running "ubiquity --debug":

1.) CD integrity checked - 0 checksums failed
2.) When selecting /dev/hda13 as root to install, ubiquity returns "Too small
size " - while it has 4926 MB available.

problem, I get that resolution even if 915resolution is not installed.
However sometimes when I log out and log on again, I get a black

As per above, I've followed the instructions. Unfortunately Ubiquity
stopped at the same point (88%), but this time showing an error message
(see attached). When I pressed "Continue" the same error message was
shown again. When I pressed "Go Back", Ubiquity quit. Also included the

I saw that Ubiquity version 1.4.7 was released. Once more followed the
instructions and installed Feisty Fawn without any problems. The data

This problem started immediately after upgrading to edgy.
After resuming with no USB devices plugged in, the kernel reports:

This is still an issue. I don't get a bluescreen anymore. Instead, the kvm
windows turns black as the win2k installer switches from boot splash to
installationmode.
The upstream bugreport suggests that upgrading to kvm-18 should resolve
windows installation problems.

Adding to my previous note:
Once the change has been made, the next time Firefox is started it reports that
it is not the default browser and asks if it should be made so. Selecting "Yes"
sets the preferred browser config to "Custom: /usr/bin/firefox "%s" thus
undoing the fix for this bug.

Removed "ehci_hcd" from the MODULES variable in /etc/default/acpi-support. I
had put that there when having problems with USB after suspend in previous
Ubuntu releases.
Inital testing suggests that it seems to have resolved the issue. Will test
more and close bug report if all goes well.

The same things happens for me with my X800XL (R430), something seems to go
wrong with ati's R4XX-cards. The vga=xx solution works, but it's not perfect
because it gives me another problem; the same kind of kernel panics when I
leave X when using the fglrx driver (logout, ctrl-alt-f1 to get to t

gnome-screensaver restarts the thing every 10 minutes - this setting can
be changed with gconftool in
/apps/gnome-screensaver/cycle_delay
Also, make sure that you 'exec' the electricsheep process in the
esheep.sh script - termination will be handled properly.

I'm sorry, I don't know which package handles sleep on laptops.
Steps to reproduce:
#1: Boot system off of desktop-i386 .iso for Ubuntu Feisty Fawn Herd 1.
#2: Click logout button in upper right
#3: Note that there are no options for suspend or hibernate.

On an Acer Aspire 5601AWLMi, the desktop-i386 live CD for Feisty Fawn
Herd 1 boots into 1024x768, even though the "natural" resolution for
this laptop's LCD is 1280x800. This is an improvement on Ubuntu Edgy,
which booted into 640x480.

Sorry about the delay. After this problem, I started getting serious
filesystem errors. I finally decided to play it "safe" with a reinstall.
The reinstall (of Herd 1) was of the "use entire harddrive" type. After
that, hibernation worked perfectly.
