you can check if you have the dcdbas kernel module loaded by issuing: 'sudo
lsmod | grep dcdbas' in a terminal without the ticks.
To load the dcdbas kernel module, issue 'sudo modprobe dcdbas'
You might need to restart hal after loading the kernel module to get the
backlight working.

I can confirm this on my PowerBook G4, Radeon 9600 (r300, Edgy).
Acceleration worked fine in Dapper. My glxinfo output also reports
"direct rendering: Yes".
Booting from the DesktopCD does not make a difference in this respect.
I can confirm that an iBook G4 with the r200 driver works OK in edgy.
I am unable to reproduce this crash with the document that first caused
it. Seems fixed. Thanks.

i am seeing this on a Powerbook g4 - this occurs occasionally and I have
to press each key for about a second for it to register.

The keyboard malfunction reported in the above posts concerning the
PowerBook was due to having activated SlowKeys by holding down Shift for
more than 8s.
Suggest that the SlowKeys activation dialog should be placed above all
other windows on the current desktop, and in any case should not be
inhi
Confirmed on 12" PowerBook, with up-to-date Edgy kernel as below.

it does not seem to be reliably reproducible.
Closing a chat window with an active messaging session in it causes the
window to go grey, but doesn't close. When the close button is then
clicked again, gaim

Attempting to rename ID3 tags in MP3 file within Rhythmbox
First, I get an "Internal GStreamer problem: please file a bug" error.
This is happening quite frequently with a certain number of the music
files - it's always the same ones cause a problem.
When I closed this erro
Paste into evolution is causing the same problem.
Please fix this for edgy, it's a serious bug that basically makes
openoffice useless for most of us.
I just updated with the test apt-source given above, and then it works
just fine (at least, copy&paste, the rest of openoffice I haven't
tried).
I just got the same error on Dapper using the k7 kernel (2.6.15-28-k7).
I have been unable to get this error using the 386 kernel, however. Is
this a threading problem with the png or zlib libraries and this
platform?

Sorry, I should have noted that this is the SMP version of the kernel,
instead of just the k7 version. I have not tried the vanilla k7 version
(there's enough entries right now in my grub menu, thank you very much),
but I will if it's required.
