They both run the 3.6.3 version, one on 32bit and one on 64bit.

Yeah I realized afterwards that the auto-partitioning was retarded. I
only have 8 GB and it seemed to be reusing an old partitioning of 4.6 ,
.2 and 3.2.

I forgot to explicitely state that with the mainline kernel the wireless
is slow too for small transfers, just as with Ubuntu's kernel. On top of
that with the mainline kernel it takes a few minutes to associate with
the AP.

I just reinstalled on a ext3 partition, and the same issue occurs. The
only difference is instead of jbd2 writing every few seconds, it is
kjournald. Both are 64 bit systems.

Ubuntu 8.04, I loose the mouse pointer even after disabling "hide mouse
pointer" option in the compiz settings, with either "sync mouse" or
"mouse panning". This bug occurs non-deterministically and is difficult
to reproduce.

Yes it now works for me as well. I've gotten this to work on multiple
systems now, both 32 and 64 bit.

I was able to resolve this with the following step:

When filling an object with color, the color does not respect the objects top
border line, this is only on the screen at a certain zoom scales. After
exporting the object to pdf, there is no problem.
When I use xfig under Fedora this is not happeni
