I'm also having this problem, and agree it is extremely annoying. It's
the main reason I don't use Abiword; it doesn't have any option to turn
off field shading. Now I have to put up with it in OOWriter too. This
is going to be a major turn off over anyone contemplating moving from
Windows/Word

I just noticed that that Gutsy isn't using the new libata pata_hpt37x
drivers for the 37x series of controllers. It's still using the legacy
IDE drivers at this point, which is probably a good thing for now.
There is still a driver bug, but it's less severe than I originally
thought, and it's not

this is my first post on the launchpad - so please excuse any formal
mistakes.
What you've described, I've also figured out. It's really frustating, that
after bootup I do never have an internet connection automatically.
My "/etc/network/interfaces" is empty except the "auto lo" entry
