not loaded, live-initramfs replaces casper completely.

I agree with John that automatic mechanisms for reporting bugs are preferable,

What I expected to happen:
mksquashfs should build a compressed filesystem
What happened instead:
mksquashfs hangs
Potential Fix, Untested:
Debian bugs reports a similar problem with mksquashfs hanging while building a
compressed filesys
It appears that you can't count on which drive is /dev/sda and which is
/dev/sdb when this thing boots.
Therefore, after figuring out that it was probably safe, I installled
grub onto the mbr of both drives.
The fix procedure then was as follows:
sudo su
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
grub-insta
I maintain a customised distribution.
This bug is a problem in jaunty, but oddly enough was not a problem in feisty,
gutsy, hardy.
The blocks customised LiveCD builds. I would love to see a way around it.
Typically one sets up a minimal system, chroots into it, and then apt-
get's more package

I managed to get an install of Ubuntu13.10Beta2 running by using the USB
stick to get a GRUB prompt, then entering command mode and doing "source
(hd0,1)... grub.cfg" where ... was a path leading to the grub.cfg

A PC here has a RTL8136 gigabit ethernet on the motherboard, which is
connected with a lan cable to a gigabit port on a netgear router. ubuntu
11.10 was installed yesterday.
The gigabit RTL driver kernel module was installed and the RTL8139
module blacklisted.
It drops
I stripped out network-manager and wicd, which were installed for a
wireless card that will be removed.
I configured eth0 simply from /etc/network/interfaces and now there is
no problem with UDP
ping flood does not jam up either
Could it be problem is intermittent... ?
