Just wanted to register myself as another user experiencing this bug and
give some details on the conditions under which I have been able to
reproduce it as they do not exactly correlate with some of the comments
above.

I can reproduce the bug on a 1.6Ghz Via with 2GB of memory. The
partition is on a 4 drive SATA II 7200rpm RAID 5 array. This box is
running at a console level only. I do not have Gnome or any other
