The nvidia 173 driver is meant to support GeForce FX 5 through GeForce
7000 series cards. These cards do have some video acceleration, but they
do not support libvdpau.

KWandi, you should use the xorg.conf below to switch to VESA driver to
get decent resolution (but it won't be 1280x800). Apparently, the
patched sis driver works for some chips, but not others (which is why I
suggested it should not be installed by default...).

youtube changes its interface a lot, and Ubuntu does not update the
youtube-dl package accordingly.
You would be better off downloading your own youtube-dl:
