Dell X200 locks up if no external mouse is attached. This has been mentioned by
others in forums. It has also been mentioned for other laptops, but I have only
seen it mentioned on some Dell laptops. Happened for me with Ubuntu 8.04, 8.10,

This appears to be the same as I am experiencing on my Dell X200.
Frequent lockups unless I have external USB mouse attached. Never locks
with external mouse attached. Have seen frequent mentions about this
problem on Ubuntu. It seems to have gotten the brush off instead of
being taken seriously. L
