I can confirm the bug being present in 8.04. Zachs patch works. It
should be included. The permissions thing on the scripts in
/etc/aide/aide.conf.d is still present, too. I'd like to fix the
package.

sorry for not posting. I installed Intrepid 64bit and the issue ist
completely resolved.
Very fast suspend, no issues.

Hi ,
with yesterdays upgrades my suspend bug changed. Before the screen stayed
dimmed. That is handled.
Now the computer hangs, with CPU heating and fan going full blast, which is
worse.
Sometimes before, sometimes after
I seem to have a similar problem on compaq 6710b. After resume screen
just stays blank. If I go to console and back to graphics or kill X the
backlight comes back on.

Hi Leann,
ok, here we go. Interestingly enough, the suppend from command line as
suggested in the Wiki Article "worked" twice . Only load was at about 50 ,
so audio crashed.
After that I closed the lid, and resume failed.(also occurs when I suspend
from the battery control in Gnome) "dmesg.log" is

here's another set, with tonites kernel-updates applied. No change in
behavior. Note that load still seems very high on successful resumes.
Theory: Maybe important resume processes get killed, because of high load in
the failing resume instances ? As mentioned earlier I once had the audio
