Yesterday, I did many tests and narrowed down the issue. I tested around 10
versions of linux kernel by checking out a specific tag version. It seems that
the problem has been introduced on Lucid, between Ubuntu-2.6.31-14.48 (good)
and Ubuntu-2.6.32

Yesterday I updated my laptop from my old Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 and I
discovered many regressions.
With this laptop, I can reproduce very easily this bug. I have tested the
latest daily upstream kernel and the bug is still there.

When generating internet traffic like watching a video on Youtube, the wireless
connection is dropped very often.

Yes, this bug is still there. I am still using pidgin 2.4.1.
Unfortunately, I am still under 8.04.4 LTS, because a bug with the wifi
microcode (iwl4965) prevents me from upgrading
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/200509).
