Could you check wether your X60 has really the same product-id? What
about trying a fresh karmic install with the live-usbstick? I have not
reinstalled my X60 but tried with the live-usbstick ...
Do you still have a xorg.conf? What about KMS?

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: sudo
It is possibly a good idea to preserve the http_proxy environment variable
during sudo.
If http_proxy is preserved, no_proxy, https_proxy and ftp_proxy should be
preserved too. Not doing so leads to an unusable variable state after sudo -i.

Seems to be fixed with sound-juicer 2.28.0 (karmic beta).

Defaultsenv_reset
Defaultsenv_keep -= "http_proxy https_proxy no_proxy ftp_proxy"
and use /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/19apt-cacher-ng like this
$ sudo cat /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/19apt-cacher-ng

Could you try that with a karmic Live-CD. For me karmic solved a lot of
problems and I think it is a good idea to do a fresh install (if
possible). Compared to a X61 refernece system the X60 fails to support
the hardware audio keys (they are decoupled form the software mixer
sitting in the tray).
