Ah it is related to #116103. However using vga=795 resulted in usplash
not being centered on my screen. vga=792 worked for me. (even though I
run 1280x1024 normally in x.org). Kinda strange. Some how usplash needs
to get and set the proper vga= setting during install.

I recently upgraded to the Hardy Beta. I still had this trouble at
first. But I then installed the proprietary drivers as well as all the
other updates available and now my usplash is working great! This is now
solved for me!!!
