I second the fact that this is not a problem with video dvds only. I
came across it while trying to install matlab 2008a from the official
dvd.
It automatically mounts as udf, but:
$ ll /mnt

Chmoding ~ to 711 worked for me too. I wonder why cups need to enter ~

Actually, printing into pdf only works for me if my ~ is 711 *and*
/usr/lib/cups/backend/cups-pdf is suid (4755). The permissions for my
home dir don't solve the problem by themselves, and neither does chgrp-
ing ~/PDF to lp and adding myself to the lp group.

compiz, replace metacity. Uninstall compiz, uninstall metacity . Install

not any more posible when the user password has expired, because it

Joseph, yes every time was a indeed a fresh install. I never attempted
to disable the NVidia card in the BIOS. I did however, attempt the
opposite, enabling optimus and using the nouveau drivers. People
suggested they had luck with that, however I remember not succeeding.

"splash" are removed). I had to power cycle, let it sit for around a
minute. At boot, successfully saw status messages and booted. (note
neither of these were with nomodeset).
Lastly, I would like to make note that I am docked and attac
information on this issue? Has it been acknowledged?
Could anyone provide some support or guidance. I would be happy to help
debug but I have no idea how to approach this.

restore fail
Thank you for the detailed instructions! I managed to build however I
had to install python-dev and librsync-dev as well two get around the
errors
Python.h: No such file or directory
and
librsync.h: No such file or directory
The commands are
sudo apt-get install python-dev
and
sudo apt-get i
Successfully
booted, I did notice a status message along the lines of
"Initializing back up display device [failed]" or something similar.
Is there any new information on this issue? Is there any way I can
help you debug this issue? Thank you.

ALSO ALt-SysReq REISUB does not respond ever. The only way to recover
from these failure boots is to power cycle.

I have been having booting trouble with my Lenovo for months. I have
consistently left 12.04 and had to use other systems. Sometimes I am
forced to return and try to see if this issue has been fixed, it has
not. I have not been able to find any support for my issue, this is

Recovery mode also fails to boot.
