I have this happen in Intrepoid, but it is NOT due to pressing PrtScrn
or Alt+PrtScrn. It happens intermittently when using Open Office. It
seems to be related to using ctrl+shift+left arrow to select a whole
line of text. It doesn't always happen, but frequently enough to be
very serious.

I've now found other recent threads noting various Toshiba laptop models
and the SAME toshiba-acpi loading issues.
My fear is the developers would spend valuable time trying to figure out

This is still happening and I can confirm that it happens with and
WITHOUT Compiz.
Ubuntu is greatloads of things to love about it, but I sure hope the
simplest of things STOP getting ignored.
Bells & whistles are fine.but don't forget the basics.

Same here64-bit Intrepidhappens very very often.haven't
tested without Compiz, but seems pretty likely suspect.
Any help greatly appreciated.will test or provide further system

resolved. I know Bryce had a "nobackfill" kludge up, but I could never
find it in my available packages

Just chiming in to agree with David - please take this issue out of
"Won't Fix". I performed the same steps David says he took with the
same result - Virtualbox is broken through no fault of my own - just
applied a kernel update as I do every time one is found using Software
Updater.
