I realize now, as I re-read some of my later comments, that I've been unclear
or downright WRONG in some of the additional information I've given. So please
let me clarify.

I will test that, though I'm hesitant due to the graphics/Unity problems I had
the last time I installed a mainline kernel. So I want to make sure that we're

happened and what cause
Hmmm...
It seems like the bugs that I bother to report never get fixed. Why do
I bother? I certainly have better things to do than spend 10's of hours
reporting valid bugs that get canceled because no one is working on
them.

Here is a link to a page that classifies Nvidia GPU's according to

I tested the CD in the same drive; without cleaning or even removing it.
I tested it with the live CD boot option that tests the CD. It passed.
I had to use the nomce kernel command line option to get even the simple

This is a hard lock crash (100% of the time) when running the live CD
portion of the DVD so it is rather difficult (e.g. impossible ;) ) to
run apport-collect after it happens.
On 2011-01-29 I opened bug 709649 against the (then latest) live CD
build of Natty 11.11. That bug is not a hard lock, b
bug 709649 is on the same hardware as this bug.
