For anyone else who is a bit crazed about this bug, I can recommend Aptik to
backup and restore your applications, settings and documents. It's safe to do a
fresh installation and it's dead easy to use, but you need some kind of
external backup hardware.

Till - I think I may be dealing with a very specific issue that likely
has no solution other than what I do myself. Most of the printing I do
is income tax return pages, for which I use a Windows program in Wine.
I just printed a few pages: firstly to a PDF using the cups-pdf option,
then assemble

When I open Thunderbird without the sudo command, the following is
displayed when downloading mail. My user account has full administration
rights. There is more than 160 GB of disk space available. My keyrings
are unlocked right after booting up.

VLC was never a problem for me, but hplip was until today. Now if only
Thunderbird and Firefox were working properly I would be a happy guy.

I'm still having a Thunderbird problem on my 32 but not 64 bit version
of Quantal. It's behaving as if I don't have permission to download mail
unless I open it with sudo in a terminal.

Just installed the latest pulseaudio updates - no change. During boot
up, it sounds like someone testing a microphone with a sharp object
twice, but other sounds have a staccatissimo burst.

Every time I start Firefox, sites ask me for cookies I have been
accepting for years. This bug cropped up somewhere after 3.5.0-14 and
-15.
It still reads the information from the stored cookie, but still asks
me. Very annoying.

It appears that the Cookie Manager addon was the culprit. It's probably
not known as incompatible with FF 15.0.1.
I will advise Mozilla.

Happened in 12.10 3.5.0-16 with the latest bluez updates 20:45 EST.
Bluetooth has been an issue for quite a while on my 32 bit partition but
works well on the same laptop, same OS on the 64 bit partition.
