bit depth from 8 to 16 just messes up the scan, turning it into a gray

OK, I rebooted in Lucid and tried scanning with compression turned off.
The result wasn't any different visually from a compressed version, but
as expected it was a smaller file size.
As the average user won't know to do this, I think compression should be
considered as a workaround for Maverick r

Maverick, and this time it saved the file properly. Now it doesn't make
a difference one way or another.

manager is disabled upon resuming from suspend and the service has to be
restarted via the terminal. It may be related to the panel applets
itself, as the restart/shutdown stopped working at the same time.
Further information - I disabled autostarting cairo-dock, and none of
the issues presented. It clearly is some kind of conflict with cairo-
dock, at least in my case.

More information - starting cairo-dock after rebooting has no negative
effect on either the network-manager or restart/shutdown applet, so it
appears it presents itself only during the boot process when cairo-dock

I don't know if this is the same bug or not, but when I start the HPLIP
Toolbox in 12.04 32 bit, it takes a very long time to recognise my HP
OfficeJet 4500, and three instances of hp-systray are running.

I installed Aptik from the ppa's and have done a complete mirror of my
applications and settings. At this point I'm seriously considering a
clean re-installation. Do you think it to be the best solution under the
circumstances? I can't run VirtualBox any more along with the
applications listed in c
I never installed this.. I have the Wine PPA as well as pipelight but
that's all.
