Additional note - the USB 500GB hard drive only causes this problem when

This happened on my laptop - the previous report was for my desktop. I
was running Firefox, Thunderbird and PopTray (a Wine app) when the
display started to shake. A few moments later - a (pale) blue screen of
death!
I was unable to get into a terminal, but Ctrl+Alt+Delete rebooted the

My desktop, an emachines dual core freezes in Lucid since yesterday's
OpenOffice and other upgrades. No flashes, beeps or boops, it just
freezes. The Karmic partition is fine.
It will function for a few minutes, but always freezes when trying to

I had some streaming video on cbc.ca/news yesterday, but it seems some
updates have made them unviewable. I also cannot take advantage of
Moonlight enabled websites, even though I tried with both the official
release and the Beta 2.

I have found - both on Jaunty and Karmic that it's about the same time
to shutdown and startup as it is to come out of hibernation. Suspend is
something else, but my system, for some reason went into hibernation
after 2 hours instead o

I have a PCIMIA USB four port root hub that 'goes to sleep' when the
computer goes into suspend mode. I stays asleep after resuming,
requiring the card to be ejected ind reinserted, which 'wakes' it and
the inserted devices.

The only issue remaining for me is re-enabling my AudioHub speakers via
the Pulse applet volume control on resume. My PCI card recovers within a
few seconds as opposed to minutes.
I just ignore the error message.

This only affects Karmic - I rebooted to Jaunty and it worked
flawlessly.
The scan - either one page or multiple - stops before displaying the
preview. It started several days ago, but at that time repeated attempts

Me too - I think it's the first time I've ever seen one on the laptop. I
thought is was a hardware issue, as the netbook and desktop in Jaunty
both show indicators.

I can unlock both now, but selecting a time zone shows a mostly black
map with white dots instead of a map and the selection bar does not
allow for selecting a city.
