I'm new to the evince code but I thought I should share what I found out.
I noticed that the rendering job somehow gets cancelled and the page then just
shows that it is "Loading..."
here's my stacktrace:
ev-jobs.c: ev_job_cancel
ev-pixbuf-cache.c: copy_job_to_job_info
ev-pixbuf-cache.c: ev_pixbu
Just tried the fix. Unfortunately I can still reproduce the bug with some pdf
files (see attachement for an example pdf file) and therefore this bug should
not be closed.
After opening and moving the mouse the screen hangs on "loading..." again.
ChangeLog says: Make sure copy_job_page_and_selec
The bug seems to be related to libcairo, as mentioned on this blog post:

The latest available version of evdev still contains the code producing
the bug (http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-input-evdev /

However, in this discussion on the xorg mailinglist, the upstream

Just compiled and tested the latest nightly-build of xf86-input-evdev

the new version will be available in the Ubuntu repositories soon...

Here is some kind of workaround I found:
1. When suspending, use "sudo pm-suspend" instead of the "Suspend" menu from
Gnome.
2. After resuming, your keyboard will be broken, but Gnome's password prompt
won't appear. This way you can still use your Desktop and do stuff with the
mouse.
3. Log off
Of course you are right! With my workaround (which is clearly nowhere
near an actual solution) I tried to give the guys from upstream a hint
in the right direction...
I don't think the bug is located around pm-utils, because one is not
affected by the bug when x is not running!
cheers!

unfortunately, the version you mentioned (evdev 2.4.0) is not out yet.
It is indeed a bug in the evdev driver which is already fixed on the upstream
source server. Compiling and installing the head revision from their repository
fixes the bug (at least it did so on my machine).
