I'm in the process of upgrading from Karmic to Lucid and / is a LUKS
encrypted LVM that mounts at boot after unlocking the partition. I came
across this looking to see if there were any current bugs with
unlocking/mounting LUKS partitions at boot.

I have the same problem on a HTPC running Jaunty. I don't need to VNC
into the machine for this to happen. A day or two of uptime will
eventually make the vino-server process start eating CPU resources up
all by itself.
A quick and dirty way to fix this is to just kill -9 the process. I keep

prompted for the passphrase at all. Trying to mount the root device
times out and I'm dropped into a busybox shell, where I can manually run
cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sda1 crypt1, but it won't continue booting.

Actually, I forgot something. Originally, I did get a prompt to enter my
passphrase, but it kept coming back as incorrect. When I started trying
to fix this problem is when the passphrase prompt went away entirely,
and I would get the shared library error if I try manually mounting the
cryptsetup c

I ran into this problem on Karmic.
To get around this, go to
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager06.html
and manually set whatever webpage that needs camera/mic access to always
allow.
