Note: 7.04 is very old and is still subject to this bug, we are not
planning on fixing this bug on 7.04 since it is not security related. It
has already been fixed in 8.04 however.

The reason I was pretty sure the update would fix the problem was that
the update fixed a heap corruption problem which caused lots of users
OpenOffice.org to crash. It showed up most often on amd64 platform but
was not limited to just amd64. It also occurred on both gnome and kde
(so Ubuntu and Ku
I'm not sure what the problem is here. I am reassigning to dpkg but
don't really know if that is where this belongs.
Both the old and new packages should have a md5sums file and I just
installed openoffice.org-style-crystal locally and verified it does:

Does anyone still have this problem after upgrading to openoffice.org

How longer after 'saving' did the system die. If it was soon after Linux
may not have actually written the file to the physical disk yet. There
is both a buffer in memory in Linux and a buffer on the physical disk
itself. Also did the saved file itself have the up to date information
in it?

I confirmed that it does NOT work on amd64. It however does work on i386
so it appears to be a 64bit issue of some sort.
