Ok, it seemed a bit harder to trigger a crash this time. I did not see
the crash in geis_dispatch_event. However the other crash in
visible_range_changed_cb() is still there. There's also a crash which I
haven't seen before in gdk_window_has_impl().

To clarify: my problem was that I have a Canon LBP3010 printer which
doesn't appear to be supported by Cups. It works with the Canon CAPT
drivers: cndrvcups-{capt,common} from a PPA , which appear to require
I updated to -proposed, ran the looping eog test case and saw the
following two crashes but did not see the gdk_x11_window_get_xid()
crash. So these crashes may or may not be related to this particular

I just filed bug #1160346 for this exact reason. An upgrade leaving a
broken system, after downloading 1.5GB+ of data and over 1000 new
packages, is not really acceptable when it is possibl

For anyone who thinks this isn't a problem for normal users:
"I mistakenly upgraded to 12.10 in my t42 without realizing the pae/non-
pae kernel conflict. now my system is kind of broken. i can not install
you .dep package because the package manager breaks when loading.
anything i do with apt-get
Two possible workarounds:
* Use a non-PAE kernel - see "How to install Ubuntu 12.10 on non-PAE

Confirming. This is a known issue, I have seen at least 4 reports from
different Pentium M laptop users that their systems got broken when
attempting an update from 12.04.
I have read the Ubuntu kernel irc meeting logs regarding this issue, and
it seems that although it was noted at the time that
