Just to give it a try I installed fglrx, but when I rebooted all I got was a
black desktop whith a white arrow cursor, had to uninstall it to go back do my
destkop wihtout anything on it.
Anyway do not know what caused it but now my desktop is also all messed up, see
screenshot.

When I rebooted to try to install Ubuntu again and I got to the "Installation
type" window, the USB key had only /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda2 was gone just like I
did previous to reboot.
So it looks like the partitioning scheme I selected worked but the installer
did not proceed with installation.

I installed kernel 3.6.0-030600 but it would not boot, the only thing I get is
a purple background that stays there forever.
I cannot do anything, CTRL+ALT+F1, CTRL+ALT+CANC do not work I have to switch
off the PC pressing the power button.

stopped and restarted Network Manager and now when I insert the network cable
in my ethernet port my network eth0 device get's an IP automatically from DHCP.

I turned off wireless network.
I went in Network Manager, modified my cabled network configuration from DHCP
to fixed, entered an IP adress and everything else is needed to make my wired
network work.
I turned detached my eth0 cable, turned on wirelss network, and canceled the

I found out that the message that I get: "Session failed to load" happens when
I install Nvidia-current drivers as said in comment #74, but when I get this
message, if I logon to a terminal I can see that there is no graphic driver
Nvidia or Nouveau see attached lsmod.txt file, but if I run dpkg
