Indeed, the author has gone the 'paid' route. Problem is it runs flawlessly on all other Ubuntu's. Just 9.04 borks it, this suggests the issue is with the OS and not the application. The coder has *not* changed the app, but the OS has changed. Somewhere this is a Ubuntu bug (or change) that breaks

After spending 3 days chasing this the fix was simple; I *don't* use network manager. It's one of the things I uninstall as soon as I do any system build. To compensate for this I keep a couple of Gnome 'Network Monitors' on a the lower panel. One for LAN, one for WLAN. I deleted the WLAN monitor
