Firefox works a treat but following deletion of bookmark folder in "Organize
bookmarks" all folders have now disappeared. I still have bookmarks when
"Bookmarks" clicked.
Ubuntu 64 bit 8.04, updated today.

No, these days I make a point of not modifying anything by opening the
files. I usually don't know what to do anyway
