I suspect the problem is the fact that Evince now depends on libspectre,
which Evince in Ubuntu does't appear to be built with.

Nautilus used to require mp123 to play the audio previews, but thanks to
GNOME bug #486827, this is no longer the case. It now uses totem-audio-
preview from the totem package.
The suggests on mp3-decoder should thus be dropped.

but it was blank. There was also space allocated in the notification
area for the notification icon, but it didn't appear.
