I see that update-manager is autolaunched, on the advice of the "Desktop
Experience" team. This is clearly the wrong thing to do for various

I'll explain why dialogues are a bad idea:
* They are very annoying.
* The actual dialogues are badly implemented just now.
* People might think their system has been comprimised if dialogues keep
popping up without their consent.

should have primary and secondary text, a decent-sized icon, and no
seperator.

Imagine the normal e-mail checking scenario. I open Evolution to see if
I have e-mails. I notice I do, but I have to close a dialogue which
tells me I have e-mails. This dialogue is completely useless.

I have been a long term Ubuntu user (since Warty), and I have never
considered switching to another distribution. The decision to remove
aptitude is certainly one way to antagonise people such as myself.
