Ubuntu 8.04: usplash displays at 800x600; xorg (when gdm comes up)
correctly uses 1280x1024 which is what my monitor supports.
Can test 8.10 later tonight.

I have an idea on how to solve this problem. I tested it in 7.10, but it
should work for others. I have an older Dell Machine (don't remember the
model number off the top of my head) but I was getting this error

This bug is old. It was fixed when Dapper was released, but it was
never closed for some reason. The machine that I was using has since
died. I would say close this bug for now. If it happens again I will
re-file.

Machine upgraded from 8.04. 4 user accounts (alan mary ryan brian);
machine was configured with timed login to log alan in after 30 seconds.
Machine boots to gdm screen, shows gdm simple greeter screen with machine name.
gdm log has this error messag
TAO (track-at-once) burning is unaffected (because it's not handled by
cdrDAO).
