I hope I have linked to the upstream bug correctly.
In any case, in that bug there is a fix for this bug, specifically svn
rev 3408.

Yeah, i'm being a dick reporting this again as a new bug, but all of my
others seem to be getting ignored.
It's absolutely silly that this bug has gone on as long as it has
considering I've even provided the patch to fix it.

I just tried opening gnome-volume-control from a command prompt, changed
a slider and exited. No crash. Tried starting it from the volume
applet, changed a slider, exited. No crash.
Fixed some how?

Sorry, not really, not right now any way. It doesn't seem to happen
every time and I don't really have time to be logging out and in a few
times and then have to set up my desktop to be productively working
again.
Funny, though, I'm sure this has happened since I first filed that bug
and have not
Do you mean libvte9-dbgsym and libglib2.0-0-dbgsym and
libgtk2.0-0-dbgsym?
In any case, I have installed them. Next time I can afford the time of
gnome-terminal crashing (and taking down all of the windows I have open)
I will see if I can reproduce.

Just hit this myself. Can we get a backport since upstream claims this

Public bug reported:
I am trying to get lirc going on my edgy system and I have come to the
point in the process where I have to install a "lirc-modules-source" and
run through a manual (i.e. at the command prompt) unpacking of a tarball
and build the modules.
Is this really as end-user-friendly
And now I see that this is pretty well covered in 65174. I guess
consider this a "vote" for that bug. :-)
