I guess I should add that this is caused by SDL hinting that the
compositor should be disabled even when the game is running windowed.
I've unchecked "Allow applications to block compositing" awhile ago and
forgot I even made this ticket.

It doesn't work on any of my Ubuntu systems, physical or virtual. (I've
tried it on a few Thinkpads as well which is how I know the PCMCIA
adapter works.) This is my everyday system so I can't install the beta
version of (K)ubuntu on the physical host. Come October when 13.10 is

04ce:0002 [Gigabyte P55A-UD3] Portable Drive Bay 2000 D
The problem still exists in Kubuntu 13.10 witht he 3.12 kernel
requested. Tested on the P55A-UD3. The device still works great on the
same machine when passed through to a Windows 8.1 VM in Oracle
VirtualBox 4.3.
Thinkpad X61 Tablet is still able to identify the device as bootable and
Xubuntu 12
I'm not sure, I reported this bug shortly after obtaining the device. I
do see bug #1046712 indicating the problem exists in precise and bug
#336189 indicates it may have been once fixed for Intrepid.
