Xubuntu 9.04, when time zone is set with "Application" -> "Settings" ->
"Time and Date", the time displayed in the panel (upper right) does not
change. The problem occured both in changing from us-eastern to middle-
european time and back again.

Ubuntu 8.04 (xubuntu) on dell Inspiron 700m. When my Lexar 512MB SD Card
is installed in the laptop's socket, the boot procedure does not finish.
I don't know how to capture the screen dump at this point - I'd take a

I checked, and sure enough, I am booting into the old kernel from 9.05.
But grub doesn't list the new kernel. I went in and changed menu.lst and
nothing I do seems to have any effect on what is display at boot time. I
can edit the kernel name to boot, and boot into 2.6.31-14-generic, but a
few seco
OK, to continue my saga...this seems to have been caused by the (broken)
transition made from grub to grub2 with the coming of 9.10. I followed
the directions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Grub2 and was able to fix
things...and (so far) no crashes. But knock on wood.

two instances of poor geometry being chosen for dialog and notification
boxes, which resulted in having to scroll left in order to read the full
