Same issues on a T60p on 2.6.24-19-generic.
Additional info from my working with this. The thinkpad_acpi module
does not load bay support as the generic ACPI bay module is suppose to
handle this now. However looking at dmesg you see this.
$ dmesg | grep bay

If you look at the top of /etc/init.d/klogd there is the following
comment and option line
# Use KLOGD="-k /boot/System.map-$(uname -r)" to specify System.map

I rechecked with the attached deb and it cleaned up the wrong ELF class
errors but now I'm getting this.

When a mouse supported by lomoco (listed in /etc/udev/lomoco.rules) is
detected it is suppose to run /lib/udev/udev.lomoco using the settings
in /etc/default/lomoco.
My mouse is listed in lomoco.rules but when I unplug and plug it back in
the rule
I tried the "fix" listed in

/etc/X11/Xsession.d/15dbus file. It seems to have fixed the problem,
however "use-session-dbus" is listed in /etc/X11/Xsession.options and I
don't know what if any conflict this will cause.

No disabling composite fixed the wine issue.
wine crashed when the following were configured
Option "AIGLX" "true"
Option "Composite" "Enable"
after changing them to the following, wine no longer crashes.
Option "AIGLX" "false"
Option "Composite" "Disable"

Actually the xorg.conf that I have has been copied from prior installs
on my laptop. That being said however the default xorg.conf file that I
backed up had no entry for composite, actually the contents of it was
surprisingly bare (pasted below).
What can I test to gather more information for you

Same error on Xubuntu Hardy with dbus-x11 already installed. It was
installed already and restarting X and trying again did not let f-spot
launch correctly. Performing the manual launch with 'dbus-launch
f-spot' does work however.
Running dbus-monitor while trying to launch f-spot shows nothing.

Trying to run amazonmp3 and it crashes with "terminate called after
throwing an instance of 'Gdk::PixbufError" After trying the triage fix
of moving /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/loaders it ran fine. Next I tried the
downgrade to 2.1 and that fixed the issue plus didn't break other
applications.
