The 18 Dec daily build (2.6.22-14.46-generic) tested good. I'm concerned that my /etc/network/interfaces file may be the problem. My initial (Feisty) bug report and the related backport fix were with respect to an unmodified network/interfaces file. My modified file, used with Gutsy (2.6.22-14-gen

Public bug reported: On shutdown, eth1 (PHY and/or MAC) is left in a state which hangs a connected Ethernet switch. Ie the connected switch cannot pass traffic via other interfaces. This condition is cleared (only?) by a reboot or by dropping +5Vsb. Several switches but no other OSs were tried. In
