Sadly, there is no package to install to get a 64-bit JRE/JVM on the

I thought I knew what was going in here, but now I confess I'm not so

Consider the package 'gdb64.' I'm asking for the same treatment for
java.
However, I now discover that I can't figure out how to use it. So I guess I
can't complain too loudly if you toss me back out on my ear on this sub

that turn on gcc -m64 and all that. When I saw gdb64 I thought I'd hit a

variety of jumping-bean problems even in hardy with multiple monitors,
but surely you or upstream have plenty of other reports of problems with
the GUI->xorg.conf conversions.

There is a valid config consisting of a 64-bit kernel and a 32-bit user
space. In such an environment, the default is 32-bit executables, but 64-bit

I may be experiencing a simpler variation.
I installed Hebrew and Arabic language packs on Hardy. My keyboard

Here's what happened to me. Some unexplained phenomenon hammered my swap
partition, so it lost its UUID. My system simply booted without incident
or warning -- but also without any swap!
mount and swapon, run from command line, complained that the UUID was
invalid.

I set up a system with xubuntu-desktop.
Then I added kubuntu-desktop to give someone who likes kubuntu the
option of logging in that way.
Now my menus in xubuntu are infested with kubnuntu programs.
Could Xubuntu please defend itself? O
1) Their labels don't come across properly. I get a label like 'k3b'
instead of the explanatory label that shows up in kubuntu. I apologize
for failing to mention this the first time.
2) I don't want them! I don't want to enable the KDE support in xubuntu
and run those programs. I don't know if th

As per various blogs and forums, ekiga does not see and cannot talk to a
typical bluetooth audio earpiece of the sort we all use with cell
phones. While there are apparently a host of complex issues here, ekiga
could at least learn to read .a
On dell m1330 laptops, it would be really helpful if the system would
try hard to convince the user to overwrite the MBR. The default Dell MBR
responds to the 'media direct' button trashing the partition table.

CD install failed to replace the stock Dell MBR.
The stock Dell MBR for this laptop supports two 'boot'

I'm seeing a far worse variation on the theme.
Dell M1330. That has an Nvidia 8400M GS.
Plugged into the DVI port, a Dell 2407WFP.
So, the two monitors have very different geometry.
I'm configured with Xinerama.
If I tell compiz to turn on, both screens go gray and stay that way
until I blast
