Thanks for the advice to apt-get remove network-manager and network- manager-gnome. Unfortunately, that didn't work. I still have quite a few unmet dependencies: The following packages have unmet dependencies: network-manager: Depends: libc6 (>= 2.6-1) but 2.5-0ubuntu14 is installed.
