I just encountered this bug again in cosmic with kernel
4.17.0-041700rc1-generic. Definitely not fixed in 4.17.
Note that with kernel 4.15, the xhci hang occurs too, but then I can
reset the bus without causing a kernel Oops.
I'll attach the Oops for 4.17

I just noticed that this 4.17 kernel is from Debian Experimental. No
idea what this was installed on my system though...

Tried mocnak's solution, no effect
Regular install 5 weeks old, update snappy breaks, update no more gui.
Mocnak solution, zero effect, in syslog gdm complains about wrong
parameters.
I am running a AMD a12 laptop, 16gbyte ram, 256gbyte ssd, 207gbyte free disk
space. All filesystems 90% or more
@Kai, the bug still effects me on latest Ubuntu.
