In further empirical testing I find that the very first initiation of firefox after a re-boot does NOT stick but that subsequent new inititaions (from the gnome menu and from File>NewWindow) do stick. I discovered this "feature" after reinstalling firefox-gnome-support. -- Firefox sticks to pan

New Discovery One thing that has changed this morning is that now, when i close all open instances of ff, the first new instance is unstuck whereas subsequent ones, while there is an existing ff window open, do stick. Previously to achieve this a reboot or alt ctl backspace was required. --
