This is still an issue. I'm currently using 8.04 and the previous fix
hasn't worked yet, though, I haven't spent much time on it to fix it. I
will do some testing for you though to try and help out with this bug.

I have this same problem, though I'm trying to use frame buffer. I
changed my resolution than ran update-initramfs and that didn't seem to
help any. I'm going to try and not use frame buffer and see what it
does.

THANKS! This appears to have fixed the issue. I installed the backport
module and that didn't fix it. I edited alsa-base and 'options snd-hda-
intel' was missing all together so I just added 'options snd-hda-intel
model=acer-aspire' and rebooted. Now all is good and those errors at
boot time no lon
I have this problem as well. I downloaded all the patches and got them
installed and my CPU still goes up to 100% and stays there until reboot.
I can reproduce this problem by just open Firefox, OpenGL apps, and a
few other programs. Any other ideas?

I have this problem too. After several seconds, to a minute, my CPU usage will
go up to 100% and stay there and my PC runs extremely slow.

I have this problem as well, disabling my ralink wireless card fixes the
issue. Wireless on = 100% CPU usage by events/0. Wireless off = 0% cpu
usage by events/0.
