I think I know what is causing this problem: no internet connection or
more specific no open port to DNS. If the compu cannot resolve a DNS the
problems occur.
Can anyone confirm?

work, however i wasn't aware of any problems with that, it proved at
least also to be stable (enough).

I had xsel installed, but I went to check in the Software Center, and my
installed package was listed as xsel 1.2.0-1. But there is also an
xsel:i386 package (not shown by default - because I'm on a 64 bit Ubuntu
version?).
The two are not compatible; I removed the first and installed xsel:i386

tart the custom kernel/patching etc etc, but this is not
what i seek (for long term).

Yes, it is.
I suspect it has to do something with grub: i tried to install without
grub, and there was no problem. (Except that i did not manage to boot,
grub error 15, also chroot and grub-install did not work).
With grub installed on hd0 this are the results. (One can select (hd0,0)

When using torrentflux to download a file over 4GB the main screen displays the
correct size but the 'directory' screen shows a wrong size. It is a known

I can reproduce it very easy: click install, a few forward clicks, choose
manual partition, choose sda11 as /, format as ext, and again a few forwards.
at 90% the installer mounts sda7-10 on /target and warnings come, at 94% the
installer quits.
cd integrity is ok.

I do not yet see any change in the phrase "Guided - use entire disk" nor a
warning except the one mentioned above, which can be easily overlooked..

I changed my 10 gb western digital hard disk for a 6 gb Maxtor, and it
boots. I was able to install feisty on that disk.
I get some similar errors while booting, but not the port failed to
respond error.

I think i have the same problem. After booting:
BusyBox etc.
etc.

and after +-15 seconds this appear:
