The diffs for patching the files from intrepid to hardy and both hardy
and intrepid versions of the files can be found in

quick guide:
sudo wget

-O /etc/u
Still getting the same results and dmesg output. 8.10 with
2.6.27-7-generic and 2.6.27-8-generic. Using 2.6.24-21-generic from
hardy in intrepid with the default udev rules works. Using the "camera
mode" works in intrepid without any tweaking.

Here you go. Both in one file.

Hasn't reproduced lately. Nowadays running natty with 3.0.0-17-generic.
Sometimes X crashes if browsing large images with Firefox, though. Feels
like a graphics driver issue. I'm on the integrated graphics chip of
Intel's Core i3-530, dual-head setup.

I'm running natty with a kernel from oneiric just to have things working
a bit better.
No, I'm not trying to report another issue. It's the same problem with
the graphics driver and/or Firefox. This time it just crashes X and the
kernel keeps running. The problem is not reproducible with Chromium,
Outdated.
