When the system just booted, the brightness goes back and forth a notch for a
while.
I can control the brightness using the keyboard but the slider keeps moving up
and down from where it is set.

NICs (both wired and wireless) works just fine until you go into suspend
and then resume.
Applet displays them as "unmanaged". Rebooting fixes the issue until
next suspend.
