I have heard a rumour that booting this kernel under Xen PV will not
work unless the dom0 is running at least xen 3.3.x as it needs
something called "the vmlinuz bootloader patches".
I do find it hard to believe as not even Ubuntu Hardy has xen-3.3,
but if this is the case could anyone confirm?

It is a bit unnerving to see a blank screen when ubuntu starts.
Especially when fsck kicks in and forces a disk check. New users
switching from Windows will have a very bad impression if they see this.

Seems to be causing Firefox to completely lock up as soon as either
right mouse button is clicked (for context menu) or a menu item is

you tried just leaving it at default?

I've now installed 2.4.1-3ubuntu1~precise1 from precise-proposed and can
confirm it behaves exactly the same way.
Note that if "Rescan Music Library" is selected from the "Tools" menu
then Banshee does notice that tracks in the play queue have gone away
and removes them correctly. It just doe
I don't agree that this is not a bug; as Michael pointed out there are
log file processors like fail2ban which can't tell the difference
between an auth failure from this and an auth failure from a guess.
It could possibly be worked around in the logging daemon or in every
