Felix, there is a problem with gdialog which your patch from comment #15
enables. I am able to configure everything when using gdialog, but there
is no way to cancel it. Pressing 'cancel', or escape, nothing helps. I
would just disable the GUI dialog completly. But this is someone's else
decision.
I am not able to reproduce that on current Edgy. In the Edgy version
there were some changes in the package regarding the placements of the
plugins.
If you run
kbuildsycoca --noincremental
from the command line and then try to start kdevelop again, does it then
find it's plugins?

After a reboot I tried again and the update worked (via aptitude). I did
no other changes besides the reboot.

Debian removed the zenity option and did not replace it with something
else:
# IMPORTANT: Do not use gdialog unless it has been fixed!
DIALOG=whiptail
# Set up (X)dialog - added by Fabian Franz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
XDIALOG_HIGH_DIALOG_COMPAT=1
export XDIALOG_HIGH_DIALOG_COMPAT
if [ -n "$DISPLAY" ]
There already exist experimental Debian packages at
http://packages.debian.org/experimental/source/vim-spellfiles
I suppose they will be moved from experimental to unstable soon and will
then be included in the release after Edgy (Feisty).

I can confirm this for kdebase 3.5.5-0ubuntu3 on current Edgy.

Confirming. The same happens with kpdf. This is actually not an issue
with evince, but with poppler, the underlying library which does the
rendering.

The problem is that poppler on Ubuntu is build without Cairo support (a
result of bug #61161) und uses the splash backend. splash does not
support anti-alising (which is probably the reason why it's much faster)
and upstream already made clear that this will not change, see
https://bugs.freedesktop
