In /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/landscape/__init__.py, VERSION is
just "1.0.23" instead of the full version+release which would currently

I noticed recently that landscape-client could no longer contact our
staging server. Fortunately, contacting the production server is still
ok.
This command is an easy way to reproduce the problem. It is failing
against staging.landscape.canonical.com:
gnutls-cli -V --x509ca
It turns out that debian/patches/91_CVE-2008-4989.diff is missing an "add"
chunk. Compare it with the gnutls advisory at

I rebuilt it locally with that missing chunk added to the patch and then
it started to work.

It's unlikely a SRU will be released for Hardy or other older
distributions. Such a dependency change in an important package could
introduce a lot of regressions. Since Intrepid has it fixed, I'll mark
the bug as fixed for Landscape as well.

Correct. When using update-motd to display the sysinfo output, the tool
runs as root, and so the logs are in the central location in
/var/log/landscape. When run everytime the user logs in, it runs with
the user privileges, which means the logs are then located in
~/.landscape/sysinfo.log.

Binary package hint: lynx
Here are a few sites that make lynx error with:
SSL error:no issuer was found-Continue? (y)
Now, answering "y" gets you to that site, but it's annoying.
Furthermore, breaks scripting lynx with -dump. For example:
$ lynx -dump https://www.thawte.co

could you please attach some logs? You should have something in
/var/log/apt and /var/log/dist-upgrade, and perhaps somewhere else too
(the update script usually does this for you when opening a ticket here
in Launchpad)
