Hi Oliver, I'm not sure the problem is with systemwide installed
language packs.
Maybe it happens when there are plugins in the profile, for instance,

I don't see it listed in the known affected models. Also if I install it
and it affects the BIOS, installing the 4.14.9 kernel would fix it?
I've just acquired that laptop, but purchased before the bug was
@tsmaster #358 I rather use my old laptop with the latest ubuntu until
the iso image is fixed. But if I were sure that the possible broken
system is recoverable I would take my chances and start using it today.
Going back to 16.04 would be way too backwards to me.

problem, just installed 17.10 and upgraded kernel ASAP. Maybe lenovo
legion Y520 is not affected by the bug at all, or maybe I just was
lucky.
