After updating to Ubuntu 8.10 on two different machines, when logging in, any
shell scripts executed by .bash_profile or at the command prompt that do not
contain as the first line '#!/bin/sh' hang or freeze and will not respond to
ctrl-C or ctrl-
selected and clicked 'run junk mail contols on
filter' . No messages were moved.
It seems that the whole junk mail control thing is turned off. I cannot
find an option to 'enable junk mail controls'.
What am I missing?

If I want to attach multiple files, thunderbird will not let me Ctrl-
Select more than 4 files at a time. I must select 4 and click 'Open"
then do 4 more and so on.

led thunderbird several times
in an attempt to resolve it.
I also completely removed my .mozilla-thunderbird and .thunderbird
directories. None of that helped.
I wish you had contacted me before yesterday when I did this.

I am having the same problem.
As I type this comment, the spacing between consecutive non-blank characters is
normal but as I press the space bar, my cursor jumps 3 characters as if I had
pressed the tab key instead. Also, in all text including all the text on this

I received a solution from Canonical (Ubuntu) support.
The solution is to remove the package libgraphite3 using the Synaptic package
manager.
Then, restarting Firefox.
The problem was corrected and the screen now looks normal.

go into web mail and download the attachments they are complete. If I
attempt to download them with Thunderbird, the file size is smaller and
