This problem is caused by a bug in reusable stream implementation.
The bug has been fixed in the current development version. See Ghostscript bug

Ghostscript receives invalid PS file from gimp. Arrays in PostScript are
limited to 64K-1 elements.
I've seen this bug before. Please check whether it's fixed in the latest gimp.

The EPS file is not compatible with forced interpolation. Not every image can
be interpolated.
For instance, when the chessboard is drawn as a 8x8 image the interpolation is
likely to produce undesired results.
I think the puck is back on the Evince side.
The EPS file also uses a transfer funct

Most likely this is a bug in the printer firmware rather than Ghostscript.

I cannot reproduce this problem on 3 ia64 boxes provided by HP testdrive: Red
Hat 5, SUSE 10, FreeBSD. Ghostscript compiles and works just fine.

The problem seems to be caused by evince that uses DSC processing on a
non-DSC-conforming file.
Removal of all DSC comments makes evince display the last page of the file
only. This indicates that evince cannot handle non-conforming files at all.

-dCompressPages flag.
Versions 9.01 .. 9.14 have it on by default for smaller output files.
Versions 9.15 .. 9.54.0 have it off by default for higher compatibility with

documents from stdin to a temporary file that allows direct access.
