I just tried it in Intrepid and I can't reproduce this issue. You're
talking about update screen where all the new updates are listed right?
Make sure to wait a little until everything is loaded. Maybe the list
was still growing when you were trying it. I can't think of anything
else right now..

I'm still having this issue. My Ubuntu laptop hasn't been connected to
the internet since 10 days and maybe the clock applet is trying to get
some information from the net. I have 4 locations setup in the clock.
The whole panel is freezing when clicked on the clock. This happens
every time i click
I was more patient this time and waited more for the clock to come out.
It took 3:50 minutes for the first time and 2:30 minutes for the second
time for the clock to appear. This is unacceptable.

I just though of something. Maybe this is delay is caused by the fact
that this laptop has an encrypted hdd in it and Ubuntu runs from an
external hdd. Poor Ubuntu tries to find out what that encrypted hdd is
all about until it gives up?

This isn't a bug. If it is critical for an app to have only one instance
of it at a time usually those apps do some self test before running.
Upgrade manager also tests if another program is doing some packaging at
the moment. Why couldn't you start the same program twice if you want to

Chrony isn't used be default in Ubuntu anymore and looks like no one is
paying attention to this bug. Please retest it in Hardy. Until that I'm
