Same issue as experienced here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1072891
I have been asked to report it as a new bug.
System will not boot without 'acpi=off' as the parameter.
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04
Package: linux-image-3.2.0-32-gen
This also happens in 12.10 with the latest kernel there

OK, I'll give it a go.
A quick question though, in the instructions it says the builds, as an
example, should look like
linux-headers-2.6.35-32-generic-pae_2.6.35-32.68_i386.deb (793.3 KiB)
linux-headers-2.6.35-32_2.6.35-32.68_all.deb (9.9 MiB)
linux-image-2.6.35-32-generic-pae_2.6.35-32.68_i386.
I still have the same question as before, which 3 files am I
downloading?
I can not work out the equivilent of this example
linux-headers-2.6.35-32-generic-pae_2.6.35-32.68_i386.deb (793.3 KiB)
linux-headers-2.6.35-32_2.6.35-32.68_all.deb (9.9 MiB)
linux-image-2.6.35-32-generic-pae_2.6.35-32.68_i
I assume it is
linux-headers-2.6.32-45-generic_2.6.32-45.100_amd64.deb (818.8 KiB)
and
linux-image-2.6.32-45-generic_2.6.32-45.100_amd64.deb (30.4 MiB)
but there are no linux headers ending in "_all.deb"

I have a new wireless router now and that seems to have fixed the issue.
Maybe it was a compatibility issue with the old one? Strangely, a couple
of times using the old one it did jump up to normal speed for a while
but then went down again.
